Looking for a break from the daily grind? Welcome to the Dunedin-Palm Harbor Video Game Book Club, a laid-back community for gamers who want to unwind and connect through the immersive world of single-player games. Each month, we select a game that everyone can enjoy at their own pace, and at the end of the month, we meet up in person at local spots—whether it's a laid-back brewery, a cozy coffee shop, or a scenic park.
Our group is geared toward a mature crowd, especially those in their late 20s to 30s who are looking for a fun, low-pressure way to escape from the routine of the 9-to-5. Whether you're a lifelong gamer or just getting back into it, this is a space to chat, share experiences, and explore the art of gaming with like-minded people.
As the group grows, we're planning to launch a Discord server for more ongoing conversations, game recommendations, and staying connected between meetups. If you're ready to relax, dive into a great game, and enjoy some great company, we’d love to have you!

Control (January's Game of the Month)
HOB Brewing, 931 Huntly Ave, Dunedin, FL, USHappy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday break. Welcome to our very first meet-up of 2026. To kick off the year, we’re diving into a game that is the definition of "mind-bending."
Our First Game of 2026: Control
For those who haven't played it, Control puts you in the shoes of Jesse Faden as she enters the "Oldest House"—a shifting, brutalist skyscraper in New York that serves as the headquarters for the Federal Bureau of Control.
Without giving too much away, you'll be dealing with supernatural threats, telekinetic powers, and a world where the laws of physics are more like "suggestions." It’s eerie, atmospheric, and incredibly stylish.
The game comes from Remedy Entertainment, the legendary Finnish studio behind Alan Wake and Max Payne. They are masters of cinematic storytelling, and Control is arguably their masterpiece. It has swept up over 80 "Game of the Year" awards and carries a massive amount of critical praise for its world-building and combat.
How to Get It (Cheap!)
If you’re looking to grab a copy, now is the perfect time:
Steam: It is currently on sale for just $6! Just a heads-up: the sale is likely to end tomorrow, January 5th, so move fast if you want it on PC.
Game Pass: If you play on Xbox or PC, the game is currently available on Game Pass.
Pro-tip: If you only want it for this month’s club, you can activate the subscription and cancel it immediately in your settings. You’ll still have access for the full 30 days, but it won’t auto-renew and surprise your bank account later!
Other Platforms: It’s also available on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch (via Cloud Version).

We can officially celebrate the fact that food trucks are allowed back at the brewery! You’ll be able to grab some great local eats while we hang out.
When: Sunday, February 1st, 2026 @ 2:00 PM.
We’ll be grabbing a table to talk about our experiences, dive deep into the lore, and try to make sense of the wild story together.
