Golf Socialising

Hi! Thanks for looking at our site. We are a friendly active group for people who mainly enjoy golf, and occasionally a few other activities (cycling, snooker, and watching sports). Golf events are mainly held in the eastern half of Berkshire, north west Surrey (e.g. Camberley and Woking), and south Buckinghamshire (e.g. High Wycombe).

Women and men of any age are welcome at our events. Having fun whilst perhaps making some friends, are the main aims of the group. Please ensure you have a facial photo of yourself when joining so that we can recognise you and welcome you when attending events (note: photos are only visible to members). Hope to see you soon!

Note: New members are generally expected to live (or work) within travelling distance of some of the area defined above (as online events are rare). If not, your membership request may be rejected. If the group is 'full' you will be put on a waiting list and let in to the group when a place become available.

* More details of activities:

• Golf - organised most weekends - usually over 18 holes (but at least once a month over nine). Note: Golf events are largely for intermediate or more advanced golfers (see *** below for extra details), and you will need to have played golf before.
• Other sports/activities (leisurely cycle rides, snooker, playing cards, and watching sports): These activities are only organised occasionally at most.
• Please say on your profile which of our regular and occasional activities you are interested in!

There is roughly equal number of men and women in the group, and members are of various ages (mostly from about 30 to 65). If there are vacancies, temporary local residents or visitors to the area from other parts or the country or from overseas are welcome to join. If the group is 'full' there may be a delay in accepting you into the group (but this will be done as soon as possible).

There may be a small joining fee and/or a small annual membership charge.
**: To keep the membership list up to date (mainly because we will probably save money on meetup fees for a smaller group no bigger than a particular size), some inactive members who have not paid a joining fee or membership fee may be removed (as we assume they are not interested in doing events at this time). At the moment this probably only applies to members who have not looked at our site in the last three years.

***: Golf details: Events are organised at Courses to suit experienced, intermediate and improver players mainly. Cost usually £25 to £40 (for 18 holes), and occasionally higher. The area has some attractive and quite challenging golf courses. 'Less experienced' players should come to golf at Lavender Park, Hoebridge (Short course), Billingbear or courses listed below in South Buckinghamshire#. Other courses that we go to are usually only suitable for intermediate or advanced players: includes Sunningdale Heath, Chobham, Downshire, Pine Ridge, Sand Martins, Mill Ride, Royal Ascot, Winter Hill, Hennerton, Hoebridge (long course), Theale, Sutton Green, Bird Hills, Swinley Forest, Puttenham, Calcot Park, and Pyrford Lakes. #From 2023 golf events are also organised at the following courses in South Buckinghamshire: Oaklands Park, Huntswood and Hedsor (and possibly other venues) . Please check with hosts for any queries about standard of golf needed at any course.

Please see a summary of the group rules below:

• This is a non-profit group but active members are requested to pay a SMALL membership fee early each year. This sum will be applied towards the ongoing Meetup subscription.
• Some members who are 'inactive' who do not pay a SMALL membership fee MAY be taken off our membership list (though we have a minimum number of members) as smaller groups have lower meetup charges. They can always re-join at a later date though if their circumstances change and they are able to participate in the group.
• We are keen to ensure that all events are harmonious and that members treat each other with kindness and respect.  Members who cause friction or make others feel uncomfortable will sadly be removed from the group.
• Unwanted attention, inappropriate messages, or any form of harassment towards other members is strictly prohibited. Violations will result in immediate removal from the group.
• Member who do more than one 'no show' without a good excuse will be removed.

Using the wording from another group: All the events are organised by volunteers who cannot take any responsibility for any incidents which may occur at these events. All members take part in all activities solely at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.
