Meetup Group promoting classes, events and meetings of the Boulder Art Association. Established in 1923, the Boulder Art Association is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization promoting visual art and creative community in Colorado's Front Range. We host art exhibitions, foster art education, facilitate collaboration among artists, and promote the value that art brings to individuals and society. We hope you can join our Meetup group for event notifications!

Have you ever drawn a live model? There's nothing like it! Lighting emphasizes living shadows, bringing out the form and lines of the model in a way no photo or AI possibly can. Come experience what drawing the human form from life is about.
Warning - You just might get hooked! And in case you do, the BAA offers figure drawing with live nude models weekly. Check our website for details!

Bring your own sketchbook & supplies (We have chairs, but if you prefer to work at an easel, we only have 2 available so we recommend you bring your own just in case!)NOTE: Running late? No entry while model is posing. Once a break occurs (approximately every 20 minutes) someone will let you into the space.

BLIND GESTURE DRAWING

Gestural, boldly unique, experimental are a few words to describe the core of this workshop.
Boulder artist Rodney Swanstrom will demonstrate and direct ways to get in touch with this form of drawing " discovery".A sure way to kick start your eye -hand coordination / communication.
A still life will be presented to work from (you might also be inspired to sketch someone at the event!)
Please Bring:
Larger size ( 20 x 24 ish ) tablet or newsprint pad to work in.
Charcoal is the preferred medium (vine or square).
Gloves (Optional - can get messy!)*Paper & charcoal will be available, if needed. Artists will not be turned away! (Donation encouraged)

Rodney Swanstrom is a multi-disciplinary artist that centers his creative endeavors around his SKYLIGHT motif.
He studied architecture and studio arts in college.
He has worked as a full time illustrator , assisting a fine artist painter in NYC. Worked for Museums and galleries in Chicago , lived and worked as an artist in Mainz, Germany.Rodney lives in Boulder with his wife, and twin boys.
Currently, he is working on a permanent art installation at a new senior living space in LoneTree, CO.
