This Meetup group is for those interested in learning more about Kyusho system of vital points and training for self-defence, health and healing.

We are a group of friendly & open minded people who train together in the spirit of mutual friendship, support & cooperation to develop our skills & ability to avoid, prevent & manage conflicts, but if necessary defend our selves. What we practice is not a sport, though friendly competition is an essential part of our training process. It is about having fun & keeping fit in the process of learning how to defend & protect ourselves.

Kyusho is 'pointing the way' in the art of striking or otherwise manipulating vital points on the body for both self-defence (martial) and health purposes. Kyusho is the Okinawan term for what is vicariously referred to Japanese as Atemi and in Chinese arts as Dim Mak, Dim Hsueh and/or Dim Ching and is indelibly linked with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupressure and shiatsu.

Kyusho however, does not specifically require the detailed study of TCM in all its complexities, making Kyusho much more manageable and easier to learn. Modern Kyusho is also safer to learn and use in real life street self-defence situations, because it focuses mostly on the neurological vital points rather than blood and organ attacks, making it less lethal, but non-the-less effective.

The system and programme of learning we follow is organised under the tutorship of Kyusho International (KI), who are arguably the foremost authority on the subject in the world, and without doubt a world-wide and reputable organisation. They engage in both practical and medical research with medical professionals to learn and better understand the true effects and potential of Kyusho and also examine the use of Kyusho within the kata codes of Karate, Wing Chun and many other different martial art styles. Our training is therefore style independent and the more variety of style representation the better our training becomes.

Learning can be done via the KI on-line learning educational programmes and honed into practical skills locally with the Kyusho Study Group, Helsinki and other international seminars held by KI.
