So It has become official that there will be Roll Sessions again in Carson City at their City Pool. They are the ONLY opportunity to have Roll Practice in Northern Nevada. They will be Wednesday nights and paddlers can use a portion of the Pool for practice. I do not know at this time how much it will cost. The Pool is at 841 North Roop Street with plenty of parking. Boats MUST BE CLEAN and the pool has hoses for cleaning them before Roll Session as well as after. More information can be had by contacting the pool or Mike Freeman at 775-283-7351. There is a good chance that there might be person who can assist with folks who wish to learn at each pool. Anyone out there care to do what I did for 21 years?

As for other locations there are still Roll Sessions in Truckee on Thursday Nights and Sunday afternoons. Call their Pool for more info.

It is a good idea to start practicing your roll skills as this will be a big water year in our area rivers. ocean, sea, and other kayaks are welcome at both Carson and Truckee Pools.

Truckee Community Center has Weekly Roll Session on Thursday evening and on Sunday afternoons. Call for times on the days. Remember CLEAN BOATS area pools best friend!

This this event is not getting as much use as it did with Travis and others but it is still a great place to surf and practice basic skills. Folks usually meet about 4-5 pm and there are 3 main spots to enjoy. One very easy surf wave, another much more challenging but faster wave and there is a challenging play wave at the upper area on river right. The area is very safe and as I said great for beginners and others to learn and practice basics.

There will be weekly surf and play events at Rock Park from now till winter. Rock Park is a great place to play, surf and work on skills. It is great for eddy skills and strong currents. All paddlers can practice simple to hard skills there. It is useable by IK's, SUP's, canoes, kayaks, Boogie Boards, and even surfboards. Come on out weekly at about 5pm to meet locals and enjoy an evening on water.
