Chris Welcz visits us to present Refucktoring.
Refactoring is a useful method to ensure the maintainability of software for as long as possible through code improvements. But have you ever experienced what happens to a codebase when you leave out all the good techniques and intentionally worsen the code? How long do you think it will take until the code is disfigured beyond recognition and you wouldn't wish maintaining it on your worst enemy?
That's exactly what this session will be about! We start with a simple coding exercise (Fizz-Buzz) that is fully covered with tests. In Mob Programming, you give me tips on how I can make the code worse. As long as all the tests remain green and the public API doesn't change (we want to stay under the radar ;-)), everything is allowed!
In the end, we will have had at least some fun and maybe also learned something about the value of refactoring and good code quality.
