Frankfurt Science Fiction Book Club

This month we'll be reading a collection of the Pilot Pirx stories by Stanisław Lem. Pirx is a space pilot who lives in a mundane world where going to space is as exciting as going to the office, or perhaps the factory.

There is an English edition, titled "More Tales of Pirx the Pilot", which is available as an ebook.

The German editions of these stories are all out of print but you should be able to find second hand copies of either part 2 of the old, two volume edition, or the slightly more recent collected edition of the entire series of stories. The old volume 2 is titled "Die Jagd". The complete edition is titled "Pilot Pirx".

There is a small difference between the selection of stories in the German version of volume 2 ("Die Jagd") and the English version - the German one contains one story that the English does not. However, this should not be too much of a problem, as we'll probably talk about these stories in a more general way, mostly.

Feel free to read all of the stories, but the discussion will be about the second book 😉
