MonteVIDEO Tech Meetup is for anyone interested in the underlying technology behind video distribution and PayTV industry. We will discuss about the industry from a technical side: engineering, product design and development.
We will cover technologies like broadcasting, monitoring, subscriber management systems, video security (CA and DRM), HTML5 video, streaming, transcoding, codecs, advertising, open standards, and more.

Join us for the next MateTalk, our relaxed, roundtable-style meetup where industry experts and community members dive deep into timely topics in video tech!
Weâre excited to welcome Katie Stroud from IAB Tech Lab as our special guest, alongside our fixed panel: Alex Zambelli, Connie Huang, David Hassoun, Peter Scott and JP Saibene.
This session will be an open, collaborative discussion on the challenges and opportunities of standardizing new formats for video advertising, including:
- Why nonlinear ad formats (L-bars, squeezebacks, overlays, etc.) bring both innovation potential and technical complexity.
- The difficulty of ensuring predictable behavior across diverse players and platforms.
- How open standards and reference implementations could drive broader adoption.
- Why the advertising industry has been slow to adopt surround/immersive audio, 4K, HDR, multilingual audio and subtitles â and how ad mezzanine quality still lags behind regular content by 10â15 years.
- Opportunities in metadata, signaling, and measurement to support interoperability.
