Rian Rietveld is a web accessibility specialist. She has worked as a consultant for WordPress agencies and wrote guidelines for the Dutch government on accessible web forms and WCAG. She is currently working on an update and expansion of the documentation about accessibility for WordPress. That is spread out all over the place and badly needs updating and reorganising to suit modern web development. When Rian retired from her consultancy work, she thought it would be a fun project to take on: managing a much needed open source project for the WordPress community. In this talk, she will share her ongoing journey from idea to outcome. The lessons she learns, the challenges she faces, and the support she receives along the way.

Jaap Wiering designs websites and printed materials through his Amsterdam-based company Fanagalo. He organizes Meetups in Amsterdam, volunteers at WordCamps, and works on making WordPress more sustainable. In his talk he will discuss WordPress core values, the urgency of sustainability and way to make WordPress more sustainable.
