De qué se trata
We're a group of folks 50 & over who do moderate hikes, mostly in the South Bay on Saturday Mornings and alternating Wednesdays, 6-9 miles max at a moderate pace. For this group it's more about the community, camaraderie and journey than the destination, meet new friends who want to hike, and then go out to lunch after. Sort of like going to party where you get some exercise.
Disclaimer: I'm doing this because I like hiking and meeting such wonderful people. We're all grownups at this point and you're responsible for your health and safety. Hiking and changing weather and trail conditions can be dangerous. By signing up for these events, you agree to release South Bay 50+ Social Hikers and especially me and any other organizers from any responsibility, liability, or claim in law or in equity. If you don't agree to these terms, DO NOT join this meetup event. You are responsible for yourself. Please come prepared with appropriate hiking shoes, gear, water and a sense of humor.

Ver todo- FLIP THE PROGRAM! lunch at Gayle's THEN barefoot beach walk in CapitolaGayle's Bakery & Rosticceria, Capitola, CA
We will meet Gayle's at 11:30 & have lunch first. WHAT???! We've hardly ever done this before!!! How will we walk with our bellies stuffed full of yummy food? I have faith in us. We will manage!
After lunch we will head to New Brighton State beach where we will walk along the water's edge (clothing optional for your feet ;-)) as far as we like. I love the sound when the tide pulls back through the pebbles at the water's edge at this this beach! After a couple of miles when we reach Seacliff State Beach those of us wanting to indulge in a bit of ice cream (and get a bit of elevation gain in) can climb up to Marianne's.
Since the state parks charge an entrance fee, carpooling is a good idea: https://www.groupcarpool.com/t/8w5qf4
I do have a spare pass that I checked out from the library which I can lend to a carpool driver at Gayle's if someone needs one.Everyone can buy their own food here so no math required!
The IOPQ will be : What is the best & what is the strangest ice cream flavor you've ever tried?

Since we didn't get to take in the dahlia's last Saturday after our Land's End hike we will make sure we get to see them by walking through the entire park! From the west end to the east we will walk along the northern route and back to the west along the southern route. We will stop at the deYoung musem to take in the spectacular views from the roof & to have lunch in the cafe. (https://www.famsf.org/visit/de-young-cafe) Feel free to bring your own lunch if you'd rather not buy lunch at the cafe. After lunch we will hit both the rose garden & the Conservatory of Flowers where the spectacular display of dahlia's in bloom will cause you to take way more pictures than you ever thought you would!
Park along the Great Hwy in free parking or in the Beach Chalet lot. We will meet in front of the Beach Chalet at 1000 Great Hwy (GPS 37.769470, -122.510341). Carpooling is highly recommended:
