Please RSVP here -> http://bit.ly/2nmUjhF Queen Mary University of London’s Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS), McDermott, Will & Emery, and the Association Française des Juristes d’Entreprise request the pleasure of your company at the Queen Mary LLM Paris Opening Lecture by Mathieu Coulaud, Head of Legal, Microsoft France, on: "How Will Artificial Intelligence Change the (Legal) World ?" This event will address various ways artificial intelligence (AI) will change the world, including in particular the legal world. The keynote will define AI, stressing its economic and technological importance for businesses and investors. Differentiating between different levels of weak and strong AI, and using concrete examples, the keynote will assess the benefits and possible dangers of AI. In addition, panellists will discuss how AI changes lawyers’ work including in multinational companies, in relation to important matters of data protection, blockchain and copyright issues, or in ways disputes arise and are resolved. The lecture will be followed by a discussion, moderated by Professor Maxi Scherer of CCLS and Jacob Grierson of MWE, with questions open to the floor. Further insight on the topic and presentation will also be provided by Laura Edgar (CCLS) and Romain Perray of McDermott, Will & Emery. About the Speaker: Mathieu joined the legal department of Microsoft France in February 2017 after seven years at Syntec Numérique as Legal Director. He has been in charge of internal affairs, the coordination of the Legal Commission, the Cybersecurity Committee and the Sustainable Development Committee. Before that, Mathieu worked for twelve years in the music and entertainment industry as a legal manager. Mathieu holds a Master's degree in Media Law from the University of Aix-Marseille. He is also a lecturer at ESCP Europe and a research fellow at the Immaterial Law Studies Center of Paris XI and Paris I. Mathieu regularly collaborates with legal journals related to intellectual property (Dalloz IP / IT, RLDI).
