Tout voir- Seriously Funny: How to Add a Little Ha-Ha to Your Blah-BlahPort Melbourne Community Room , Port Melbourne
We all love a good laugh — but when it comes to public speaking, humour can feel like walking a tightrope. Used well, it can elevate your speech, win over an audience, and make your message unforgettable. Used poorly… well, let’s just say silence isn’t always golden.
How do you actually be funny on purpose?
What gets a laugh? What falls flat? And how can you use humour in a way that feels natural, authentic, and effective — even if you’re not a “funny person”?
In this playful and practical session, you’ll learn how humour works, how to use it to connect with your audience, and how a well-placed laugh can make your message more powerful and persuasive. Because once you’ve made people laugh, they’re far more likely to listen.
Whether you're new to public speaking or just want to bring a little more sparkle to your delivery — this is a night you don’t want to miss!
Join us tonight at Port Melbourne Toastmasters as we explore how to use humour to connect, engage, and leave your audience smiling — for all the right reasons.
Get ready for a session that will help you find your funny and speak with confidence and charisma.

- Voice Power: Find Your Voice, Own the RoomPort Melbourne Community Room , Port Melbourne
Your voice is more than just sound — it’s your most powerful communication tool. It carries your message, shapes how others perceive you, and can either pull people in or push them away.
Studies show it takes less than a second for someone to form an impression of you — often before you’ve even finished saying “hello.”
The tone, pace, and quality of your voice speak volumes long before your words do.
In this dynamic session, we’ll explore how to make your voice work for you — not against you.
• Do you whisper or boom?
• Are you monotonous or melodious?
• Is your voice a rain cloud or a rainbow?
• Do you suffer from mumblitis?
• How well do you articulate?
• Do you trudge like a turtle or race like a rabbit?
• Do you agitate… or orchestrate?Discover how to project with confidence, use pitch and pace to create impact, pause with purpose, and speak clearly and expressively.
Whether you're on stage or in everyday conversation, your voice can help you own the room — if you know how to use it.
Join us tonight at Port Melbourne Toastmasters as we unlock the power of your voice and show you how to make every word count.
Get ready for a session that will transform the way you speak — and the way people listen.

- The Moral of the Story: Turning Tales into TakeawaysPort Melbourne Community Room , Port Melbourne
Stories do more than entertain — they teach. When a story carries a moral, it offers insight into how we can live, lead, and grow. Morals reveal what matters. They help shape character and inspire change.
The Cambridge Dictionary defines moral as “a social set of standards for good or bad behaviour and character, or the quality of being right, honest or acceptable.” In other words, a moral is a takeaway — a compass point we’re left with after the tale is told.
At this week’s Toastmasters meeting, themed The Moral of the Story, we’ll explore how to deliver speeches that both captivate and teach. Learn how to:- Share stories with powerful takeaways
- Let your audience draw their own conclusions
- Wrap up your speech with a clear, memorable maxim
Whether you're telling a personal anecdote or a fable with a twist, discover how to craft speeches that leave your listeners not just entertained — but changed.
Join us tonight at Port Melbourne Toastmasters as we explore how to turn powerful stories into meaningful messages.
Learn how to craft speeches that not only entertain but also leave your audience with a clear takeaway — or even a quietly profound insight they discover for themselves.
Whether you're aiming to inspire, persuade, or simply be remembered, this session will help you elevate your storytelling with purpose and clarity.
