STCP FOOD DISTRIBUTION (TUESDAY, FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS)

In partnership with Prêt a Manger, volunteers distribute sandwiches, salads and tea to people in need across Paris on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday mornings.

We meet at Caféothèque (52 rue de l'Hôtel de Ville. Paris 75004) at 9:00am weekdays (10am weekends).

Before distributing, we socialize over a cafe and one of our volunteer leaders poses a question for all of us to talk about in small groups for 10 minutes. Then we continue to enjoy our cafe and chat with other volunteers before delivering food to the homeless and refugees in the center of Paris.

Why not do a good thing with your morning and meet new people at the same time? Join our Meetup today!

FRENCH AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE CONVERSATION COURSES (THURSDAY NIGHTS)

Serve the City Paris volunteers offer basic level French and English 'training through conversation' courses for refugees every Thursday night from 19h - 21h, at 140 rue Amelot, Paris France 75011 (Metro Oberkampf or Place de Republique).

During this conversation course, a minimum of 15 instructor volunteers (that's you!) are matched across the table with a minimum of 15 different refugees, to have a conversation in French or English. There will be name tags provided that you will fill out stating which language you can instruct (you can put both French and English). The refugees will also fill out name tags with the language they wish to learn. Every 10 minutes, everyone rotates one seat over to meet someone new and talk French or English. The session lasts 1 hour.

The session will be followed by a community meal from 20h-21h where our conversations can continue! We ask that the volunteers bring a food item such as bread, fruit, cookies or a salad to share with the refugees. *Please do not bring pork/ham as many of the refugees do not eat it.*

You don't have to be a trained language instructor. We only require each volunteer to take our 2-hour Volunteer Orientation workshop to learn about the best practices of volunteering, and integrating with foreigners (taught by a consulting expert in the field of Diversity Management).

If you have not taken this mandatory training workshop, you will need to do this before participating in the conversation course or STCP volunteer activities. The STCP Orientation workshop is offered 2 times per month at Columbia University in Paris, 75006. You can sign up on this Meetup site by searching for a date for the next "STCP Volunteer Orientation Workshop".
