Join us for the FoundationDB Meetup in Adobe HQ San Jose, CA!
This is a monthly meetup series for FoundationDB. We will feature an interesting roster of speakers who use or work on FoundationDB.

• Talk 1: FoundationDB in Production (30 mins + Q&A)
  Speaker: Trevor Clinkenbeard
  Speaker Bio: Trevor is a Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI working on FoundationDB. He has spent the last 9 years working on FoundationDB at Snowflake and OpenAI, focusing on deploying, operating, and improving large-scale distributed database systems. His experience includes managing and monitoring hundreds of clusters across diverse production environments, as well as working on performance, reliability, and operational tooling. Trevor has also contributed to the broader FoundationDB ecosystem through open source work and technical talks, with a focus on benchmarking, system behavior, and production best practices.
  Talk Summary:
  An overview of best practices for running FoundationDB in production. The talk will discuss common issues and pitfalls, and provide guidance on configuration, upgrades, monitoring, alerting, and integrated AI into the workflow.

• Talk2: Encryption for Backups (30 mins + Q&A)
  Speaker: Akanksha Mahajan
  Speaker Bio: Akanksha Mahajan is a Software Engineer at Apple, where she works on backup and restore for FoundationDB. She has a deep passion for distributed databases and storage systems. Prior to Apple, she was part of the Storage team at LinkedIn, and before that spent over five years at Meta as an engineer on the RocksDB team, where she drove scan performance optimizations to reduce wasted IO and improve storage engine efficiency.
  Talk Summary:
  FoundationDB is introducing encryption for backups, providing strong protection for sensitive data written to external storage such as S3. Akanksha will walk through the technical design of the feature, including how data is encrypted, how keys are handled, and the commands used to enable and monitor it. This talk is for developers looking to understand and adopt encryption of backups in their FoundationDB deployments and protect their data.
