“Not Only At The Margins”: Exploring Hong Kong's queer landscape in the 2000s as a young lesbian (by Sonia Wong, CUHK)
Dr. Sonia Wong returns to continue sharing Hong Kong's LGBTQ history, diving into the changing pop culture scene from the late 90s to the early 2000s. This talk explores important LGBTQ milestones in Hong Kong that shaped the city's queer identity and possibilities. Dr. Wong will share her personal journey from student to scholar and artist, weaving together local LGBTQ history along the way, highlighting how Hong Kong's queer culture is not only at the margins (which is something truly unique in Hong Kong's cultural landscape).
