Sommet de Calern

Détails
Hello Hikers !
After a two-month break and with the return of cooler weather, we can make our hiking rentrée on Sunday with this invigorating walk up to the summit of the Plateau de Calern (1458 m). It's around 10 km with 400 m of climb and we'll take it at an easy pace with plenty of pauses !
On the way up, we'll visit the delightful chapel-in-a-cave of Notre Dame de Calern, then follow the edge of the plateau, where there's a chance of spotting vultures gliding on the thermals. From the summit, we'll take in the spectacular views from the coast to the Mercantour, then return in a loop across the wide open spaces of the plateau.
You'll need usual mountain gear, as described on the group's front page. Since there isn't a lot of shade on this hike, sun cream and a hat are advisable, and don't forget to bring a picnic and plenty of water.
As usual, car sharing requests and offers can be made in the comments section.
