De quoi s'agit-il

Hi Giver(s),

I'm Miya and I created this group, "The Giver(s)'s Reading Club", for people who are improving their English skills. During the session, we will read an article about a topic, a page in a book, etc., and we will discuss it. We will choose a book to read every month and for a month. And then, discuss it.

Books we've read/are reading:

  • ***The Pearl ***by J. Steinbeck => Topic: How wealth can change people's minds. Should we/people remain in the same social condition?
  • ***The Giver ***by L. Lowry => Topics: Dystopian world, controlled/regulated society (absence of choice).
  • ***The Forty Rules of Love ***by E. Shafak => Topic: Different forms of Love (discovering poet Rumi's life with his companion Shams of Tabriz - When Mawlana meets Shams of Tabriz).
  • The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down by Haemin Sunim => Topic: Zen Buddhism
  • Amaechi.: The Past, the Present and Tomorrow by Chima Nwoke => "[(...) themes of police/military brutality, espionage, re-imagined folktales, and African traditional religious beliefs such as the mythology of the Igbo gods, and reincarnation".
  • The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales (1985) by Olivier Sacks => Topic(s): tales on neurological disorders....
