Millgrove Warburton MTB Loop. 32 km / 880 vm. 70% singletrack. Intermediate.
The first 30 kms of the Warburton Bike Park opened back in July: https://www.rideyarraranges.com.au/warburton-bike-park/
Join me in riding over half of the green trails, in combination with some old, trusted, easier access links, roads and tracks.
32 km, 880 vm
70% singletrack / MTB trails
10% rail trail / paths
20% sealed paths & roads
Intermediate. MTB ONLY.
DON’T FORGET - DAYLIGHT SAVING STARTS!!
Millgrove is our start and finish, where there is a choice of food shops to fuel and replenish your energy needs.
Pedalling off at 9:30am, we warm up on the rail trail for 2 kms before gradually climbing to the trail network. After climbing and descending 250 vm on this first section, we hit the main trail head in Wesburn Park (@ 10 km) where we can break and have a go on the pump track. There are also some bike repair stations here.
Regaining altitude again along 2kms of the quiet Old Warburton Road, we rejoin the trails around Mount Little Joe, avoiding the higher altitude tracks, before the steep, twisty descent in to Warburton, and a break at Cog Bike Cafe (@ 20 km)
Again, we climb on a few kms of road and an old walking track, before rejoining the tracks and trails, finishing with a quick, steep descent in to Millgrove.
“The available trails are predominantly categorized ‘green’, however all trails begin with an uphill ride, most suitable for riders who have some mountain bike riding experience.” (https://www.rideyarraranges.com.au/warburton-bike-park/plan-your-trip-2/)
Proposed route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52821123 . There are plenty of options to bail out early, or to lengthen the ride.
Please make sure your mountain bike is serviced and off-road worthy, and that you are carrying any spares and tools to maintain your bike on the trail ie tube, pump, CO2 inflator, tubeless repair kit, spare wireless battery…..
Photos and links are part of the ride description.
