Grammy Award–winning pianist and composer Brad Mehldau has long bridged musical worlds, shaping modern jazz with performances that blend intellect, emotion, and structure. Kirill Gerstein, equally at home in classical and jazz traditions, is celebrated for his dynamic artistry and curiosity, connecting diverse musical voices with insight and imagination.
Their collaboration grew from a shared fascination with the space between composition and improvisation. As Gerstein recalls:
“I felt an immediate, visceral pull to his musical language… Our friendship has deepened, as have our shared explorations of the porous border between written and improvised music.”
Mehldau shares:
“He is a virtuoso with an astoundingly large and varied repertoire, but he is much more than that.… Kirill and I have been exploring ways to combine written music and improvisation, and the program we put together will reflect that.”

Tickets : 73$. READ THIS. Buy the first row balcony if you want to sit together. Buy first balcony row A or B on the right if you want to sit with group. See photo below. I've attached a photo of where I bought my seat called A25. Let's fill that whole row or the row behind. Please post which ticket you bought so that the next person that's buying a ticket can see because these are individual seats that we are purchasing and it is not open seating. If you buy your ticket now, you'll probably sit with the group. If you buy your ticket later, you might sit somewhere else, but we will still have lots of time to chat together.

Update: Please note that Ottawa Jazz festival has just presently as I’m writing this March 11, 2026. They have just announced that he will also be coming to Ottawa and the date will be May 6, 2026. (Tickets for sale soon. )That’s the day before we are seeing him in Montreal. If you are interested in the Ottawa presentation, please see the Ottawa Jazz festival website at this address.
UPDATE 1030am March 12 2026 new info: OTTAWA AND MONTREAL AVAILABLE: As of today, Mar 12 2026, tickets are now available for purchase in Ottawa May 6th 2026. I am going to Montreal anyway May 7 2026 because it's going to be epic and I am also leaving this meetup posting active so that people who are in Montreal can sign up. See ottawajazzfestival.com for tickets. Ottawa is a solo concert and Montreal is a duo jazz/ classical fusion. Both will be superb!
