Album Release - Akrofo System

A moment of sharing and celebration, music rooted in the rhythms of Africa and jazz improvisations.

Akrofo System was born from the meeting of jazz pianist Philippe Monange, percussionists Youssouf Traoré, Laurent Clipet, and saxophonist and flutist Thomas Koenig.

These four versatile musicians pay tribute to the unique connection between jazz and African rhythms. In a setup where the bass is replaced by the dunduns of West Africa, where jazz and contemporary piano, saxophone and flute with Coltrane-like accents, Afro-Cuban percussion, and current electronic sounds meet, this music travels freely beyond borders.

From composition to improvised dialogues, Akrofo System explores a repertoire of original pieces, complemented by a few rearranged covers, with a constant focus on sharing with the audience.
