I invite you to continue our GR1 adventure, hiking from Vaucresson to Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche through the beautiful forests west of Paris. We’ll follow peaceful woodland trails and rolling hills in the Forêt de Marly-le-Roi, with plenty of time to enjoy nature, good company, and a picnic break in the forest. A perfect escape from the city for those who love exploring new sections of the GR1 and spending a relaxing day outdoors.
We’ll stop for lunch/snacks in the forest, so bring your own food and water.
We’ll meet on Sunday, Nov 16, 10:30 AM in front of Vaucresson Train Station, where our hike begins.
To get there, take train line L from La Défense; the 9:57 AM train arrives at Vaucresson at 10:09 AM (12 min ride).
The activity will be in English, ideal for expats and anglophones living in or visiting Paris.
The GR1 project is an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the Île-de-France region, all within easy reach of Paris. Spanning a total of 550 km, this circular trail takes you around the city in a clockwise direction, offering a unique way to discover the peaceful landscapes, charming forests, and picturesque villages surrounding Paris.
Distance: ~13 km (8 miles)
Elevation: +300 m (1,000 ft)
Duration: ~4 hours including breaks and lunch
Where we meet: 10:30 AM, Vaucresson Train Station, Pl. Charles de Gaulle, 92420 Vaucresson
Where we finish: Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche Train Station (from there we have the train L back to La Défense)
Who it’s for: For those who want to escape the city and hike the GR1 adventure with friendly company. No special experience needed, just basic fitness and good mood!
Make sure you can walk this distance and feel comfortable with it. You are responsible for your own actions!
What to bring: Small backpack, water (1L), lunch/snacks, comfortable shoes, rain jacket (or umbrella).
Participation fee: €10 per person (cash or transfer on Revolut/Lydia app) at the end of the trip.
