GR1: Stage 9 Viarmes - Fosses (17 km)
We are pushing further north on our GR1 adventure! This stage takes us deep into the lush forests of the Parc naturel régional Oise-Pays de France, walking along the very edge of the Île-de-France. Expect the classic GR1 mix: deep woodland trails, open fields, and historic hamlets rich in local architecture.

!!! If it rains, we will have some muddy parts in the forest (white shoes are still accepted).

The GR1 Project is an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the Île-de-France region, all within easy reach of Paris. Spanning a total of 550 km, this circular trail takes us around the city in a clockwise direction, offering a unique way to discover the beautiful landscapes, charming forests, and picturesque villages surrounding Paris.

📍Meeting Point

Location: Viarmes – in front of the train station.
To get there, you can take train line H from Gare du Nord
Train H: Gare du Nord 10:05 - 10:45 Viarmes (in the direction of Luzarches)
!!! try to catch this train, otherwise you will arrive too late.

🎯Ending Point
We will finish at Survilliers - Fosses Train Station. From there, we take train line D back to Paris.
RER D: Survilliers - Fosses 16:29 - 17:08 Châtelet - Les Halles

📏Hike Details

• Distance: ~17 km
• Elevation gain: ~+200 m
• Duration: ~5h (including breaks and lunch)
• Difficulty: Moderate – if you can comfortably walk 10 km in your day to day schedule at a comfortable pace, you are fine!
• Lunch: We’ll stop for lunch/snacks in the forest or where we find a good place, so please bring your own food and water.
• Language: English – ideal for expats and anglophones living in or visiting Paris.

• Comfortable walking shoes
