It's been a while since the last hike! The weather forcast looks very good, thus on the menu for Sunday is the hike from Peille to the Cime de Baudon. The hike is close to the coast between Nice and Menton with splendid views over the mediterranean sea as well as the Mercantour summits!

The hike starts in the medieval picturesque village of Peille, drowned in a huge olive grove at the top of the Paillon valley, with round tiled roofs and many medieval buildings such as the Romanesque “Lombard” bell tower (12th century), the rotunda roof of the Chapel of the Penitents (13th century), the fortified wall (14th century) - worth a visit by itself. The village also served as backdrop for a Tina Turner/Ramzotti music video...

The hike passes under the cliffs of the Pied de Jacques in a forest of Austrian black pines. The final section is covered with a sparse vegetation (ostrya, Scots pines, lavender, large umbellifera, hawthorns, rosehips, junipers) which clings to the limestone bars typical of the karstic relief.
