Ride leader (Rob) plans to maintain around a 13mph average pace. Faster riders are welcome to start with us and form your own group. Slower riders will ride with Rob.

This route has some of the "Chestnut Ridge" route in reverse.

We will ride between 12-13mph initially to make sure everyone is warmed up.

Faster riders may choose to head out at a faster pace. Riders who form a separate group, or who leave the ride, are kindly asked to notify the ride leader so we don't go looking for you.

We'll start the ride with introductions and sharing favorite safety tips, so come prepared! Look for us at the lower level parking lot (silver Ford Fusion).

It will be about 70 at the start, climbing to about 75 degrees by the finish.

I propose a rest break after we turn onto Borland Rd (at the intersection with Chestnut Ridge Rd). There's some space 50' or so beyond the intersection off the side of the road.

Please respond to this posting with RSVP so leaders can know estimate of attendees and notify you of any updates due to weather, etc.
We'll have a few cue sheets, but please print one or download the route to your device. This ride is not for the new or inexperienced rider. You should have a road bike, be able to follow a cue sheet, be comfortable riding in a group, and managing personal hydration/nutrition.

The route is on Carolina Tarwheels home page, and here are the links:

You may download this route onto your cycling computer if it supports that. Or you may use this link to print a hardcopy of the cue sheet:

This is a no-drop ride. We will meet back up at the next road intersection if someone is missing and wait.

Please also have a cue sheet or have downloaded the route. I may have a couple of extra cue sheets available, please ask me.

If you have not recently looked over our ride policies, please take a moment to consult:
http://tarwheels.net/wp/policies/

If you have not already done so, please take a minute to electronically fill out the 2026 Tarwheels ride waiver before coming out to the ride.

http://tarwheels.net/ewaiver

Current Tarwheels members need only do this ONCE a YEAR. NON MEMBERS are required to do this before EACH RIDE, so please consider becoming a member and save yourself the hassle.
