But trouble is brewing in Ste Xinnith… Frozen Trove, a Triaxian biotech corporation notorious for unethical and illegal methods that damage environments to maximize profits, has established a laboratory in the area, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Come and join us for a Wolf Moon ceremony. We will be inside with human friendly cats. We will invite the spirits and guides to join us. We will have a comfortable meditation and some manifestations and intention setting for the new moon cycle. We will participate in a healing journey. This is very powerful and quite healing. We will be sharing and discussing some thought-provoking questions. We can share some stories around the fire and then I will close the ceremony. **Join Us for New Year Fun with the VSDC Vegan Children’s Playgroup!** Bring the whole family to welcome 2026 with an afternoon of creativity, connection, and fun. For this year's event, we’re excited to team up with Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) as we celebrate the New Year with crafts, games, vegan-themed book giveaways, and delicious vegan refreshments. While the event and the VSDC Children's Playgroup is all-vegan, our meetup welcomes veg (or veg-curious) kids under the age of 10 to be accompanied by at least one parent or caregiver. The vision for this playgroup is to build community for veg kids to help instill more confidence in their lifestyle choices and provide a strong sense of belonging while also having fun. Oddball Cinema is pleased to begin a series of Oddball Adventures at James Duncan Library: movies that take the viewer into strange and unexpected places, some real, some imaginary. With a few liberties taken by the writers for dramatic effect, our first feature is based on actual events. In 1862 a young scientist (who would establish the field of meteorology) ascends in a balloon to study the upper atmosphere. Although his pilot on the historic flight was a man, in this feature the pilot is a woman based largely on a professional French balloonist of the era. As the two of them soar to an altitude never before attained, they face unexpected hazards and must resort to heroic measures to survive. Socrates Café meets twice a month. Though this may be considered a "philosophical" group, there are no rules as to what is discussed. Usually, the topics revolve around social concerns, morality, and the first principles of things. Prior to each meeting we vote online for the questions we will discuss. That way, we will have enough time to ruminate on them and have more in-depth conversations. If you RSVP to a meeting, you may post your question in the event comments section below. I'll send out a survey for voting a few days prior to the meetup. We discuss two questions each night. So you will get to cast two votes in the survey. When we meet, we break into smaller groups of five to seven to discuss the top two vote-getters. Each group discusses one question for around 45-50 minutes, and we then take a short break.
