Welcome to a new season of data science challenges !
For this end of summer meetup, we'd like to take a look back on the CDiscount (https://www.datascience.net/fr/challenge/20/details) challenge which ended recently. This challenge was about product categorization for an e-commerce marketplace.
We'll have at least 4 special guests, who are willing to talk about their solutions and participate in a Q&A session:
• Romain Ayres, the winner (!)
• Nicolas Gaude #2
• Arnaud de Myttenaere #3
• Joachim Zentici, #5
In the remaining time, Amine El Helou will present a starter code (matlab) for Kaggle's Right Whale competition (https://www.kaggle.com/c/noaa-right-whale-recognition) (and there may be some time for you to start playing with the data).
With fewer than 500 North Atlantic right whales left in the world's oceans. The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration needs your machine-learning super powers to automate the specie's recognition process on a dataset of aerial photographs. As a sponsor to this challenge, The Mathworks also provides access to MATLAB and all the necessary librairies (i.e. machine-learning, image processing etc.) to all participants.
Note that a follow-up meetup will be organised later this automn so that we can have a real hands-on session on the Right Whale challenge .
Mobiskill will host us for this meetup ! A special thanks to Ines, Headhunter #BigData at Mobiskill :)
