Come join me and Lucy Briggs, for Lucy's second Co-lead at Pennypack Creek Historic Bridge Loop.

Join us for a relaxing, approximately 5-mile figure-eight loop hike through Northeast Philadelphia’s Pennypack Park. This route follows the scenic, winding Pennypack Creek on a paved, multi-use path. Our primary goal is to enjoy the outdoors, have fun, and perhaps spot some trout in the creek.

The terrain is fully paved asphalt, suitable for walkers of all levels. Expect to share the path with cyclists, families with dogs, and fishermen along the creek. Porta-potties are available at the trailhead.

Approximately 1.4 miles (25 mins) into the hike, we will loop back past the starting parking lot. Participants may use the restrooms or depart at this point if they choose. Along the way, we'll pass by an interesting stone fireplace ruin and the Ed Kelly Amphitheater. At the halfway point, we will take a short break to enjoy any packed snacks and the sounds of the creek at a picnic area near the Pennypack Creek Bridge. Built circa 1697 at a Lenape trail crossing, this bridge is the oldest roadway bridge in continuous use in the nation.

Meet at 9:45 AM in the lower parking lot next to the creek near the "Fireplaces in Pennypack Park" Google Maps pin. The park entrance is on the south side of Rhawn St, east of the traffic light at Rhawn St & Holmehurst Ave. Please avoid the upper parking lot, as it is currently under construction.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes or sneakers suitable for asphalt and bring at least one bottle of water. Pack a snack to enjoy at our bridge-side picnic stop, if you wish.

Rain cancels. If Canceled The leader will send a status email by 11:00 PM the night before the hike.

All participants will need to agree to and sign a paper AMC legal waver sheet just prior to the hike if you did not register online in the AMC Outdoor Connector.
