Let's hike out and back on the Blue Grouse Trail for ~5 miles and about 1000 feet of elevation gain! We'll start the hike at the Blue Grouse Trailhead located next to Kriley Pond. Follow the Blue Grouse Trail for 0.7 miles until the fork in the trail at Mule Trail, take a right and travel up a series of switch backs before the trail levels out. We'll stop near Frazer Meadow and find a shady spot for a snack before returning to our cars.

What should you bring...Check the weather at trail location before you leave home and come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, waterproof boots, hiking poles, microspikes, backpack and snacks, and water. Make sure you have in your pack in case you need it - rain gear, hat, gloves, extra socks, and extra layers, etc. Come prepared with a change of shoes and a bag for muddy boots. Make it the best experience possible by being prepared!

Directions to the Trailhead: Golden Gate Canyon Road into the park to Mountain Base Road and up to parking. Stop at bathrooms at Kriley Pond before driving up.

Carpooling: Form carpools from your neighborhood. Come prepared with a change of shoes and a bag for muddy boots.

Join the group for Coffee and Conversation at The Historic Schoolyard Cafe! It's a coffee shop and part of the Schoolyard Beer Garden located in Denver's historic Evans School. It offers a variety of coffee drinks, pastries, and other food items, including grab-and-go options. The cafe also features an ice cream counter and is known for its remote work-friendly environment.

Meet in the coffee shop and we'll sit outdoors in the shade!

We'll take a hike to Lost Lake via the Hessie Trail in Eldora, 4+ miles and 830 feet of elevation gain. Starting elevation at the TH is 9000 feet and is in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, group size is limited to 12 people and we'll have two groups. Trail is rocky and steep in sections. We'll find a good place to sit by the lake for a snack break near the camp sites. We have two groups of 12, fast and not so fast!

Bring snacks and other food to eat at the lake. Optional refreshment after the hike at a place TBD for those who choose.

Carpooling: Form carpools from your neighborhood or meet at a park n ride to carpool to the trailhead. Parking is all along the road so the more single drivers the farther down the road we all have to park. Carpooling is a good thing to do!

Directions: Two ways to get there! Hwy 72 through Coal Creek Canyon to Nederland or Boulder Canyon to Nederland. From Nederland, take Colorado Highway 119 to County Road 130, signed for Eldora. Follow the paved road through the valley to the Town of Eldora, where the pavement ends. Continue beyond the end of the pavement for 0.75 miles to the fork in the road. The left fork goes to Hessie Trailhead.
