Discuss deep learning applied on audio signals to prevent illegal deforestation

Rainforest Connection (RFCx) applies deep learning on audio signals to prevent illegal deforestation in the rainforest. This is a presentaion based on a projects conducted by Delta Analytics in conjuctions with RFCx. Sean M. will discuss the use of deep neural networks to perform classification on audio signals, some regularization techniques for training such models, and the importance of a basic signal processing understanding in the application of machine learning to audio signals.

Additionally, Sean M. will describe a research topic that Delta Analytics performed for RFCx in simultaneous source and receiver localization. Using multiple microphones, with unknown locations, we can solve the locations of the microphones and multiple acoustic events using techniques from affine geometry, and gradient descent optimization.
