Friends of Pocahontas State Park

Every month, the FoPSP Board, FoPSP volunteers, and park staff meet to discuss and plan upcoming events, projects, initiatives, and purchases as needed to support the mission of the Friends of Pocahontas State Park.

Attending is a great way to get involved and learn more about the park and its activities. The meeting will last 1.5 - 2 hrs, depending on the depth of the agenda. New members welcome!

This meeting is typically virtual and held on Zoom. A link will be available here to all who have RSVP'd for this event.

We're looking for someone to help the RAGNAR Race Staff mark camp sites for the racers. This is a single shift from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, 22 April.

Note that shuttle driver shifts are also available at the link if you can drive during any of the slots. Every Thursday we stock the campground with fresh firewood. If we have extra time we may split some too! Keeping the parks campers supplied with lots of split firewood not only protects the park from invasive pests but also generates thousands of dollars which can be reinvested in the park. No experience required!! Plus all of the hours accumulate toward free park passes and other rewards. It's a fun job with great people and great socializing.

## Meeting Place: Visitor Center Parking Lot

This week, once again, we will back at the
main native plant garden and visitor center. Along with our usual work in the garden, we will be prepping planting areas for the park's Caterpillar Club program. Those that are interested are welcome to work with the kids in the program from 10am to about 11:30am.

In general, we typically work in the park managing the gardens, installing new plants, transplanting and weeding to keep the park looking good and healthy. No experience required. Bring your favorite garden tools, kneeling pad and gloves. You may also want to bring water and a light snack. As you accumulate volunteer hours it will allow you to earn a state-wide park pass and other rewards.
