This 3.0 mile hike begins at the Oregon Hill Overlook located near the intersection of South Pine Street and Oregon Hill Parkway. It's an urban hike (yawn) we will pass several of Richmond's locations of interest. Among them are the Mural Gallery at the Canal Walk, the Jefferson Hotel, Kanawha Plaza and the Canal Walk.
This is a hike over developed urban pavement and sidewalks where the only hazards are automobile traffic, panhandlers, loose bricks and the occasional uneven crack in the sidewalk!. This hike will begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you need help on directions, click on the inset map to display a larger interactive map. When you select "Directions" (upper left) the best route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated for you.

Participants should be able to maintain a pace of 2.5 miles per hour but the ability to negotiate rocks, roots, low hanging branches, uncertain footing on hills, bridges and toxic plants in season will be waived for this downtown excursion. Just be careful with the uneven sidewalks and cobble stone streets!

There is no parking lot on Oregon Hill, but abundant curbside parking is available on one side of Oregon Hill Parkway and on South Pine and South Laurel Streets.

• What to bring
Water bottle, clothing appropriate for the season, aspirin, practical footwear, band aids, a cap, visor or bonnet, sunblock and dry clothes for after hike activities.

• Important to know
The only restroom facilities will be at the Jefferson. Manage your coffee consumption wisely.
