Circumnavigate Baltimore's Inner Harbor on Memorial Day (w/ free FERRY!)
Celebrate & Honor Memorial Day circumnavigating Baltimore's Inner Harbor via this ~7mile MODERATE WALK that is paved & nearly all flat albeit some sets of stairs (especially at Federal Hill). Pace: 3mph.
The trek traverses the harbor by both foot & boat, but watch your step as there is no fencing while waterfront!
Upon departure the walk quickly queues Key highway, ascending a staircase, then crossing a train track before prematurely ending at the Baltimore Immigration Memorial. Amble about while the ferry is en route! As the Ferry/ Harbor Connector (#2) arrives dockside, enjoy a ~25min free ride! Please know that water can be choppy, causing the boat to rock, conditions vary (see uploaded photo for boat interior).
After alighting at Canton Waterfront park the circuit hikes by Harris Creek, a wildlife hotspot, before frolicking through Fell's Point: a suburb with stony streets & rusting rails, featuring the historic Robert Long house (oldest residency in the city-- 1765!), as well as the renovated Douglass- Myers Museum. The trek then passes by the National Katyn Memorial, snaking around a Screw-top lighthouse, the National Aquarium AQUARIUM, and some ships along this part of the trip!
Latter of the circuit meanders by "little house on Montgomery", then steeply saunters up Federal Hill for a GRAND VIEW of the downtown skyline; enjoy a snack here! A descent follows, revealing the American Visionary Art Museum that showcases mesmerizing mosaics (and more), eventually concluding through a hidden & claustrophobic canal!
NOTES:
1. Trail Forecast= MAP | Consider bringing a jacket and/or "shade-wear" (sunglasses, hat) as the ferry/ harbor can be windy! NO dogs :(
2. (Alt.) Car Parking= If you want peace of mind in a safe lot, pay $15 for all-day @Harbor View which is 3min walk from the meet spot.
3. Post- social LUNCH @SUBPLICITY (dependent on holiday hours).
4. Footnote: 2nd yr hosting on Memorial day!
This Walk-event took persistent planning, please consider supporting these 'Meetup meanders'; you can donate here: PayPal or CashApp :)
A 'yes/ attending' RSVP is your digital signature that you've read, understood, & agreed to the Liability Wavier hyperlinked here.

4th annual Ca$h Lake HIKE w/ BYO Picnic
Patuxent Research Refuge, 10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop, Laurel, MD, USThis easy hike is worthy of a sash! It's 3.3miles & flat; the beginning has DOWNED TREES, some crouching/ hopping may be required, be sure not to crash. Pace: 3mph. The trek may feel like a dash since the distance appears rash, so please, no backlash. After frolicking through a forest with a bash, the hike circumnavigates the lustrous Lake where fish often splash. Protruding Roots along the way occasionally give the trail a moustache. Latter of the circuit proceeds over a FLOATING BRIDGE without whiplash, then lingers at a stash of lily pads; There's so many, could some ever clash? The trek concludes in a Pollinator Garden composed of a flowery mishmash. Residing Wildlife include birds and beavers, beware in case they thrash!
Afterwards, stick around for a post-social BYO Picnic, perhaps with some succotash?NOTES:
1. Trail Forecast= MAP | NO dogs. Shade advisory. Restroom on site. Covered parking offered on the left-side- lot. Bring some fictious cash (e.g. Monopoly money) for a group- photo flash!
2. Picnic/ post- social has shaded seating, park on the right-side- lot (some tree shade); don't leave behind any trash!
3. This event is cross- listed/ posted; RSVP w/ only 1 Meetup.A 'yes/ attending' RSVP is your digital signature that you've read, understood, & agreed to the Liability Wavier hyperlinked here.
