NB: This event will be held in English

This is a joint meetup with Data Science Milan:

For the occasion we have two speakers to give us an introduction to Deep Learning, a technique that received a lot of interest and attention in the recent past.

The event will be held in the "Sala conferenze of dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria" at Politecnico di Milano.

Agenda:

18:00 Doors opening

18:30 Welcome talk

18:45 (30 minutes + QA)

"Neural Networks and Deep Learning (Part 1 of 2): An introduction" by Valentino Zocca, Mathematical Consultant @ Real Data Machines (realdatamachines.com)

In this talk we will introduce artificial neural networks and their similarities to how the brain works. We will provide some history and theoretical foundations to introduce feed-forward multi-layer neural networks, describing their predictive and learning ability, and some of their applications in the real world. This is part one of an introductory pair of talks on deep learning concepts and theory.

Valentino Zocca has a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland with a thesis in theoretical geometry, though he has since worked on technical applications and first-on-the block VR geo-navigation data tools and data analysis. Currently he lives in Italy and the United States where he works on emerging deep learning protocols and neural network architectures.

19:30 (30 minutes + QA)

"Bringing Deep Learning into production" by Paolo Plater, CTO @ AgileLab (agilelab.it)

We will go deep into a SWOT analysis about deep learning frameworks in order to choose the best one for your needs. We will also cover the process to smoothly bring deep learning into an enterprise environment and the reason why H2O could be a good choice for this purpose.

Paolo Platter is a Telematics Engineer living in Turin and he is CTO & co-founder of Agile Lab, an emerging Big Data consulting company. He is passionate about software architectures & life cycles. He is also a certified Cassandra Architect and Scala Developer.

20:30 End of talks, we all must leave the venue before 21:00.

Please invite your friends and colleagues.
