Schedule
WordPress Multisite for large and high traffic multilingual websites
by, Giuseppe Mazzapica, Inpsyde
Starting from a comparative overview of the various approaches to multilingual WordPress websites, the presentation will focus on the usage of Multisite for the scope, documenting Inpsyde’s experience with the multilingual-via-multisite approach and the benefit it brings for large, high-traffic websites in terms of performance, flexibility and "vendor lock-in" avoidance.
Rebuilding NobelPrize.org
by, Gabe Karp, 10up
Built in 1994, NobelPrize.org was one of the very first websites powered by a MySQL database. More than 20 years later, VIP agency partner 10up led a project to modernise the site, and bring a modern editorial workflow to the Nobel Digital team, whilst preserving the flexibility of that original build. 10up’s Gabe Karp will describe the creative and technical transformation behind the new site.
How we won the World Cup
by, Joel Davis, News UK
With the first major football tournament since we launched the Sun website on WordPress this was the ideal excuse to launch a new, innovative destination page. From the proof of concept to delivery in a few months.
Using Gutenberg in Production
by, Jason Agnew, Big Bite Creative
Jason is going to discuss his recent experiences of using Gutenberg with two enterprise projects - one for the largest bank in Europe and the other for the world-impacting Amnesty International.
The Gutenberg journey hasn't been without its issues, so Jason is going to explore the impact of the new editor, including how Big Bite are using Gutenberg, how the team tackled training, and how they price new projects which require blocks.
Talks will finish at approximately 8.30pm and be followed by drinks and small bites. After the meetup we will go to the pub (TBC).
If you plan on attending, please be sure to RSVP as space is limited. Sign ups will close 24hrs before the start of the event and you must be on the guest list in order to get into the venue. Please ensure you're signed up with your full name (first and surname).
A huge thank you to News UK for hosting this meetup.
Guests are welcome but must sign up themselves as security will be checking the sign-up list at the door.
