Description:
Yellowstone National Park has been one of Shari Garnsey’s favorite places since childhood. It was also the first place she truly began to explore photography—armed with an old camera and a sense that capturing the world through a lens might become something important. Since then, she’s returned many times, each visit deepening her appreciation for the park and shaping her growth as a photographer. In this talk, Shari shares what she’s learned across multiple trips, including a GNPA-sponsored adventure in May 2024.
The presentation is part travelogue, part reflection, and part visual exploration of how experience and knowledge change what—and how—we see. Along the way, Shari shares practical tips for working with light, weather, and wildlife in a park that never looks the same twice.
Biography:
By day, Shari Garnsey pays the bills as a professional coach, helping teams at a Big Four audit and tax firm pursue and win high-stakes opportunities. Off the clock, she’s a devoted photographer whose passion spans nature, street, and black-and-white work. A student of photography since college, she returned to the craft after a long family-focused hiatus, and for the past 15 years has embraced the digital world with fresh perspective. Her images reflect deep curiosity, intuitive framing, and a love for quiet moments in wild spaces.
