The Hive Think Tank is the largest community of AI and data innovators. The Think Tank is hosted by The Hive (http://hivedata.com/), an AI fund and co-creation studio. Visit us @ Medium (https://medium.com/hivedata) | Twitter (https://twitter.com/HiveData) | Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/HiveData/) | YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/user/HiveMumble).

We are based in the San Francisco Bay Area and our community consists of data scientists, entrepreneurs, corporate users and academicians. We are appreciative and proud of our sponsors, which you can view here (https://www.meetup.com/SF-Bay-Areas-Big-Data-Think-Tank/sponsors/).

The Hive Think Tank hosts talks and panel discussions that are focused on four key areas: AI based Applications, Data Infrastructure, Data Science and Entrepreneurship that span enterprise, consumer and Internet of Things (IoT) segments.

Current hot topics for The Hive Think Tank include:

• Deep Learning and AI

• Bots, Conversational Agents

• AI based Enterprise Automation

• Security & Privacy

• Smart Machines and Autonomous Industrial Operations

• Drones, Robots and Self Driving Vehicles

We have hosted over 275 events so far with 9,500+ attendees and we’re excited to have you join our community.

Join The Hive Think Tank and be a part of the AI driven innovation that is driving disruption and creating new opportunities.

Workshop: Visual Recognition using Watson

Alley powered by Verizon

REGISTER HERE: https://goo.gl/forms/kSkRpCTqWvam14lP2 YOUR SEAT IS NOT GUARANTEED WITHOUT COMPLETING BOTH STEPS OF THE REGISTRATION PROCESS (MEETUP RSVP + GOOGLE FORM) ABSTRACT IBM Watson Visual Recognition understands an image's content out-of-the-box. Watson provides pre-trained models that enable you to analyze images for objects, faces, colors, food, explicit content and other subjects for insights into your visual content. Come join us in this hand's on workshop to learn how to use these pre-built classifiers and additionally create custom classifiers in Watson Studio for your domain and use case. We will build an electron desktop application that will identify an image using your own classifier. The application will additionally use CouchDB/Cloudant for storage and OpenWhisk/IBM Cloud Functions to trigger visual analysis. Don't forget to bring your laptops to follow along with the speaker! Developers will learn: 1. Introduction to visual recognition and IBM Watson Studio 2. Clone and run the electron application 3. Create Cloudant database for storage 4. Create IBM Cloud Functions and appropriate triggers and rules 5. Specify your own custom classifier in the application SPEAKER: Upkar Lidder is a Full Stack Developer and Data Wrangler with a decade of development experience in a variety of roles. He can be seen speaking at various conferences and participating in local tech groups and meetups. He is currently curious about magic behind Machine Learning and Deep Learning, specifically use of NLP in chatbots. Upkar went to graduate school in Canada and currently resides in the United States. You can find him on Twitter at https://twitter.com/lidderupk. AGENDA 6:00-6:30 – Registration & Networking 6:30-6:40 – Intros from The Hive & IBM Developers 6:40-7:50 – Hands On Workshop 7:50-8:00 – Audience Q&A

Workshop: Machine Learning at the Edge using CoreML

Alley powered by Verizon

REGISTER HERE: https://goo.gl/forms/1IMcuZmicqSxxpxL2 YOUR SEAT IS NOT GUARANTEED WITHOUT COMPLETING BOTH STEPS OF THE REGISTRATION PROCESS (MEETUP RSVP + GOOGLE FORM) ABSTRACT Machine Learning at the Edge using CoreMLDescription: In this workshop, we will learn how to build a custom image classifier with Watson Visual Recognition and deploy the model to iOS devices using the Core ML framework. You will learn how to integrate Watson services in your iOS application and how to leverage Core ML APIs to enable artificial intelligence features directly on the device. A laptop running OSX 10.12 or later with the latest version of Xcode is required to fully participate in this workshop. SPEAKER: Sam Couch is a Developer Advocate at IBM focussing on AI, data science, and Watson services. Previously, Sam worked as a backend engineer at a startup concentrating on consumer savings and as a security engineer at a media company. He enjoys exploring the intersection of entertainment and technology and is interested in all things esports.
