Ciao Crafters,

for the next meetup, we're going to try something new, a virtual architectural kata. We want to thank Nelis and Matteo for making this possible, it's gonna be fun 😎!!!

⚡ Organize this activity remotely asks for extra preparation and discipline. You will receive a mail with all the practical information to connect two days before the event starts. Please read the prerequisites below carefully and follow the instructions! Please come 10 minutes before so we can start on time. ⚡

🔻Prerequisites 🔻:
✉️ Contact Mario Pio Gioiosa (organizer) via a personal message on meetup to provide your e-mail address
📖 Read the preparation document (via e-mail two days before the event)
🔎 Can use Zoom.us (preferably the desktop client)
✏️ Can use Mural (via web browser)
🎧 Make sure that you have an excellent place to connect to the meetup. Ideally, have a silent room, headset with microphone, webcam, good internet connection.
❌ If you signup and then you cannot make it, that's totally fine but let us know by unsubscribing to the meetup

DESCRIPTION
With the rise of agile, architecture has disappeared a bit in the background or co-existed in an ivory tower (boring documents or powerpoints that everyone ignores). Yet, having a good architecture can make or break your product. So it becomes key that your teams can leverage all the knowledge and learn how to discuss architecture!

The goal of this session is to let participants taste two team-oriented and straightforward techniques that can help self-organizing teams to work on an architecture: Architectural Katas as a way to practice architecture design and the C4 to describe an architecture solution. Both techniques are simple and understandable by anyone with an affinity to development, but often not well known or practiced.

The Architectural Katas were born out of the desire to practice architecting. Inspired by the idea of Dave Thomas using the concept of Code Kata, Ted Neward came up with the idea of running Code katas at a higher level, and the concept of Architectural Katas was born.

Simon Brown created the C4 model as a way to help software development teams to discuss and describe the static structure of their software architecture. It’s a way to create maps of your code, at various levels of detail, in the same way, you would use something like Google Maps to zoom in, and out of an area you are interested in.

In this meetup, we are going to fuse both techniques and do an architectural kata with the C4 model.
