Designing Across Scripts: What Hebrew Can Teach Us

Dettagli
In this talk, type designer Eran Ben Barak will explore how different writing systems can inform and enrich each other. Beginning with a brief overview of the history of the Hebrew script, drawing on his thesis Script in Stone: Tracing the Typographic Evolution of Hebrew through Tombstones in Central Europe, Eran will then discuss the challenges and opportunities of designing typefaces that span multiple scripts. Using his project, Olivia, as a case study, he will share his approach to creating harmony between Latin and Hebrew, while respecting the integrity of each.
