PyLadies #3: Testing and debugging Python Flask applications

Dear supporters and followers of PyLadies, we are happy to inform you that we will be having our third meetup in a virtual mode, in order to keep the spirits up and to remain in touch with all of you.

We are a worldwide group of women who love Python programming language. Some of us hack on Python projects on the side, while others work full-time on Python development.

For our third event, Giulia Naponiello from Red Hat will speak about how we can test and debug Flask applications. In particular, Giulia will show how to implement an API using Flask, the Python web app framework. She will walk us through the right way of writing unit tests in Python and executing them using the python library pytest. She will then show how to diagnose and debug a Flask application using tools like pdb (the python debugger) and gdb (the GNU project debugger).

Giulia Naponiello is a software engineer and she has been working at Red Hat for the past 2 and a half years. She works in a multicultural team, whose purpose is to automate and improve the release pipeline in Red Hat and Fedora. Before that, she got her CS degree at Bologna University and worked as a Full-stack developer in an Italian private company for 2 years and a half. She loves open source, and that's why she loves Red Hat - it allows her to unite work and passion, without giving up on freedom. For her entire career she worked mainly in Python and it amazes her, again and again, every day. In her free time, she likes to cook, play bass guitar and do sports.
