This session is part of Road to HACK, a series of practical events designed to get you ready for GDG AI HACK 2025 — our 24-hour student hackathon happening on May 10–11 in Milan.

Think of it as your pre-game: workshops, insights, and hands-on learning to level up your AI skills before the main event.

Workshop - Agent Development Kit: a Quickstart

Tired of basic LLM demos? It’s time to step up your game.

In this session, we’ll dive into the Agent Development Kit (ADK) — a modular framework built for creating smart, flexible, and locally-runnable AI agents using Gemini and other Google AI tools.

You’ll learn how to set up your first agent, plug in multiple tools, and run it directly on your machine — all in a clean dev environment you control.

🧠 What you’ll learn:

Installing and setting up ADK in your local dev environment
Creating a multi-tool AI agent using Gemini models
Running your agent via terminal or the interactive browser UI
How to structure agents for more complex use cases

And stick around after the session — we’re grabbing drinks and having an aperitivo together 🍹

💻 Tech requirements: Bring a laptop with Python 3.9+ and a local IDE (VS Code, PyCharm, etc.). Terminal access is a must — we’re going full local dev mode.

🔒 In-person attendance is by invitation only — limited to confirmed participants of GDG AI HACK 2025 to ensure a focused, hands-on experience.

🌐 Everyone else can join via livestream — the session will be broadcast online and open to the public so feel free to grab your virtual attendance ticket 😉.
