Hey Gophers!
GoWroc is Coming Home! After a few years of being apart and missing each other, GoWroc #62 will be hosted by Ingrid again.
Our new-old sponsor will provide us with drinks, pizza and a great venue.
📅 Agenda
🕕 17:45 Networking
Let’s grab a beer and catch up 🍺
🕕 18:00 Talks
➡️ Krzysztof Dryś: What's new in Go 1.26?
The latest Go release introduces minor language changes, various performance enhancements (including a new garbage collector) and a rewritten go fix tool.
The new garbage collector is said to be 10–40% faster. Let's take a look at how it works and run some benchmarks to see if we can replicate these results.
But why talk about the rewrite of the Go fix tool, which might sound like an internal chore? As it turns out, it's actually very interesting. This includes everything from how the project was sold (hint: it was AI) to how it is implemented and how to write fixes for your own code.
There are also more small updates! I will go through them as well. Well, at least the interesting ones.
🕖 19:00 🍕🍺 It's pizza time and while refueling our energy let's take another chance to chat with your fellow gopher!
➡️ Henry Kupty: API First with OpenAPI in GoLang
This talk explores the shift toward API-first development in Go as both a technical and cultural transformation. We’ll outline the core principles behind API-first design, along with practical guidelines for building and evolving services around clear, contract-driven interfaces. We’ll also examine the challenges of introducing these practices into established systems and teams, and what it takes to make them stick over time.
On the implementation side, we’ll dive into our approach to OpenAPI and custom code generation in Go - how it shapes architecture, improves consistency, and reduces friction in day-to-day development. We’ll also address the trade-offs of choosing OpenAPI in an ecosystem where protobuf and gRPC are dominant, and how this decision supports interoperability, developer experience, and long-term adaptability in an increasingly AI-driven landscape.
