Valle dell’Inferno, Monte Ciocci scale impossibili, Presepe S.Pietro

Vi invito 🙋‍♂️ a una passeggiata lenta e piena di sorprese, tra le colline dietro il Vaticano, dove Roma nasconde ancora angoli dimenticati e bellissimi.
➡️ Visiteremo il minuscolo e affascinante Borghetto dei Fornaciari 🥖: un villaggio operaio , nato per i lavoratori delle vicine fornaci di laterizi del Vaticano. Casette basse, cortili interni, scale strettissime, orticelli… è un pezzetto di Roma rurale sopravvissuto tra i palazzi moderni. Ci entreremo in silenzio, come ospiti di un tempo che non c’è più.
➡️ Successivamente andremo nel parco di Monte Ciocci: saliremo 🧗🏻‍♀️ al belvedere dal quale la cupola di San Pietro sembra a portata di mano e tutta Roma si stende ai nostri piedi come un presepe vivente.
Ci fermeremo sulla famosa scalinata di Motorefisico, quella street art 🎨 optical con linee bianche e nere che fa impazzire le prospettive: sembra di scendere (o salire?) dentro un disegno di Escher. Foto obbligatorie e risate garantite.
➡️ Quando il sole comincia a calare, scenderemo e cammineremo sulla pista ciclopedonale della vecchia ferrovia 🚂 , tra resti di fortini ottocenteschi, sbucheremo in Piazza San Pietro quando le luci di Natale sono già accese.
Ultima tappa: il Presepe monumentale sotto il colonnato del Bernini, ogni anno diverso, sempre emozionante.

I invite you to a slow, surprise-filled walk among the hills just behind the Vatican, where Rome still hides forgotten yet breathtaking corners.
➡️ We’ll visit the tiny and charming Borghetto dei Fornaciari 🥖: a workers’ village built for the laborers who worked in the nearby Vatican brick kilns. Low little houses, inner courtyards, extremely narrow staircases, vegetable patches… it’s a slice of rural Rome that has miraculously survived among modern buildings. We’ll enter in silence, like guests in a time that no longer exists.
➡️ Next, we’ll head to Monte Ciocci Park: we’ll climb 🧗🏻‍♀️to the viewpoint where St. Peter’s dome feels within arm’s reach and all of Rome spreads out at our feet like a living nativity scene.
We’ll stop at the famous Motorefisico staircase — that optical-illusion street art with black-and-white lines that drives perspective crazy: it feels like you’re walking down (or up?) inside an Escher drawing. Photos are mandatory, laughter guaranteed.
➡️ As the sun begins to set, we’ll descend and walk along the old railway’s cycle-pedestrian path, past the remains of 19th-century little forts, and emerge into St. Peter’s Square just as the Christmas lights are coming on.
Final stop: the monumental Nativity scene beneath Bernini’s colonnade — different every year, always deeply moving.
