Italian English Language Social and Cultural Exchange

Il Risorgimento is a historic period which resulted in the Unification of Italy in the 19th century. Before 1861, the Italian peninsula was not a State, but was divided into many small kingdoms and territories controlled by different rulers. The Unification of Italy represented not only a political change, but also an important cultural and social transformation. Many Italians began to feel part of the same nation, united by language, history and common traditions.

In this reading, we will discover the paths towards Unification, and we will meet the characters who made it happen. We’ll see you there!

Il Risorgimento è il periodo storico che portò all’unificazione dell’Italia nel XIX secolo. Prima del 1861, la penisola italiana non era uno Stato unico, ma era divisa in molti piccoli regni e territori controllati da sovrani diversi. L’unificazione italiana rappresentò non solo un cambiamento politico, ma anche un’importante trasformazione culturale e sociale. Molti italiani iniziarono a sentirsi parte di una stessa nazione, uniti dalla lingua, dalla storia e dalle tradizioni comuni.
