We have an amazing group, and we do our best to make it just as fun as when we are sitting around the table at Cafe Lucia or Newks!

**MEETING DETAILS:**
You MUST RSVP to get the link to the meeting! The link will show up as the meeting's location.

**SCHEDULE:**
6:30 - arrival, catch up, intros for newcomers
7:00 - timer starts, write for 1 hour.
8:00 - timer ends, chat, take off / keep writing.

**PLEASE NOTE:** Anyone who arrives after 7:00 may not be immediately admitted to the meeting. All of us will be focused on writing, including the host who may not see you request entry right away. If that happens, please take the hour to write and try to enter the meeting after 8:00. We still want to meet you, welcome you, and encourage your work! :)

Who?
Sometimes it will just be the moderator, and sometimes it will be 5 or more people. We are fiction and nonfiction writers. Some write Dungeons and Dragons Campaigns, some write blogs, and others are writing novels. Sometimes it’s just the moderator. Bring a friend.

What?
Write until you’ve got 750 words if you want a challenge. If not… just come with your own project.

When?
Sessions will be held on weekdays at 7pm Central, 6PM Mountain.

Where?
Virtual on a platform called 8x8

Why?
Because writing well takes practice.

How?

We turn off our cameras and mics while we’re writing unless you need to keep your camera on for accountability.

Hi, Writers!

After a long, long hiatus, our Wednesday Sessions are back! Join us on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm CST for our online writing accountability group.

What we do:
We gather on Discord to chat for a few minutes before starting a timer where we will write separately for one hour (mics muted, and you can disable your camera if you like). When the hour is up, we reconvene to see how useful the time was for you. We'll often stick around to chat about what we've written, or to suggest books, etc.

The basic schedule:
7:00pm - 7:30pm. Gather, say hello, make introductions if you're new!
7:30pm - 8:30pm. Concentrated writing period. Mute your mics and get writing!
8:30pm - 9:00pm. Discuss what we wrote, ask advice, etc.

It's okay to be late. Just know that if it's past 7:15pm CST, we are writing.

We use Discord. It's a free service with text and video chat, as well as message board functions.

Shut Up & Write BR Wednesday Sessions

Hello and welcome to our virtual meeting. Shut Up and Write Springfield meets on Discord. If you would like to join us, please send me a private message here on Meetup, and I will send you a link to our server. We never share the links publicly. YOU MUST ASK ME FOR IT! I do my best to respond to link request in a timely manner, but if I am late, you are more than welcome to join us next week. Once you are in the server you are in it, so you should only need the link once.

We are a collaborative group, so if I am unable to be there for some Wednesdays, one of group members can easily facilitate, Here's a little bit more about how Shut Up and Write Sessions work:

Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 7:30pm.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

SCHEDULE:

7:30- SESSION 1: quick intros.

7:45- timer starts: write for 1 hour.

8:45 (the end) chat / take off / keep writing!

OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 7:30 and 8:45. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: just log on and get settled! We will be sure to post
what time we will regroup after our writing hour, so you will know what's going on,

LEAVING EARLY IS OKAY TOO. As we said, the socializing is optional. We do tend to get a little chatty after writing sometimes, so please don't feel obligated to stay if you aren't up for it. We will just look forward to seeing you next time.

We strive to be a supportive group who lifts other writers up. We have space in server to share recommended reading and we welcome any questions you might have.
