Architecture Insights - ERP as Single Page Application - by Progress Group

yep, you're right, we're still around 😅
It has been a loooooong time, nearly 2 years since we had our last event. Well, arguably there have been some unforeseen, global events that kinda messed with our lives and made things much more complicated.

We thought about bootstrapping this as an online event a couple of times during the pandemic...but then..we've been in all those online meetings already, busy with managing life during a pandemic...but, here we are now.

Our last meeting was hosted by Progress Group, and hence we re-launch again with Progress Group. They've been so kind to reach out and propose a topic and are also offering the location. The perfect opportunity for us, so we jumped onto the bandwagon to get started again 😁.

Progress Group is giving us some insights in their current project and technical challenges they are facing and how they solved them. Here is their topic description:

"In the precast concrete industry delivery and production planning integrated with CAD software and production systems (MES) is key for a successful construction project in order to have the exact unique element just in time at the construction site.

Most established ERP systems are not specialized for this process flow. With erp bos® we offer a complete ERP solution but many customers don’t want to change their established systems. For them we are developing Ahead, an extension to existing solutions to fulfill this gap.

In this meetup, we explain our business case and the technical challenges and opportunities of this modern approach for enterprise resource planning. We will discuss the advantages of React/Redux
for the frontend and how we interchange data with the external systems.

The entire meetup is structured according to the following agenda:

1. Short introduction to Progress Group with focus on our SW activities
2. Idea behind Ahead and its opportunities
3. System structure of Ahead. (DB/server/IIS/Browser)
4. Client technology (React / Redux / Typescript)"
