Come join us for a peaceful and refreshing walk around the beautiful Ōrewa Estuary. After introductions, we will follow the Te Ara Tahuna shared path, enjoying the calm water, birdlife, boardwalks, and open green spaces. This is a gentle, scenic outing designed to help us slow down, breathe, and enjoy the natural rhythms of the morning.

We will walk the full estuary loop at a relaxed pace, taking time to appreciate the views and the changing landscape as we circle around the water. After completing the loop, we will finish with a short stroll along Ōrewa Beach together before wrapping up.

## IMPORTANT NOTES & UPDATES:

• Difficulty Rating: Easy (flat shared path, suitable for most fitness levels). • Suitability: Ideal for beginners, returning walkers, and anyone wanting a gentle, scenic outing. • Completion Time: We expect to finish by around 1:00pm. • Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes; the path is mostly paved or boardwalk. • Drinking Water: Please bring your own. • Toilets: Public toilets available near the surf club and along the estuary.

Come join us for a peaceful and refreshing winter walk around the beautiful Kai Iwi Lakes. These dune lakes are known for their crystal‑clear water, white sand, and wide‑open skies — a perfect setting for a gentle, scenic outing in one of Northland’s most stunning natural areas.

We will walk the Lake Taharoa loop at a relaxed pace, taking time to enjoy the lakeside views, boardwalks, and open spaces. This is an easy, social outing designed to help us slow down and enjoy the natural beauty of the region. You are welcome to stay longer after the walk if you wish to explore or relax by the lakes.

## IMPORTANT NOTES & UPDATES:

• Meeting Point: 10:30am at the Kai Iwi Lakes Playground (Kai Iwi Lakes). • Walk Start Time: 11:00am (late morning start to allow for travel). • Walk Duration: Approximately 2.5–3 hours at an easy pace. • Finish Time: Around 2:00pm. • Difficulty Rating: Easy (mostly flat lakeside path). • Suitability: Ideal for beginners, returning walkers, and anyone wanting a gentle, scenic outing. • Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes; the path is mostly firm but can be sandy in places. • Drinking Water: Please bring your own. • Toilets: Available at the Lake Taharoa day area.

## Overview

A friendly Saturday morning hike run by volunteers to help us get outside, breathe, and reset.

## Plan

• Meet: New World New Lynn at 09.00am or end of Log Race Road, Piha at 10.00am • Time: 9:00 AM meet at New World New Lynn for a 10am start from the end of Comans Road • Duration: Around 3-3.5 hours • Route: A beautiful ridge track above Piha with coastal views, native bush, and a steady climb. We walk up to the lookout point and return the same way with one possible variation. • Finish: Back at the cars by just around 1:30 PM • Toilets: Public toilets available at Piha

## What to Bring

• Comfortable walking shoes with good grip • Water • A light snack • Warm layers — it’s mid‑winter • Optional: walking poles, hat, rain jacket

We hike regardless of the weather unless conditions are unsafe (e.g., cyclones or earthquakes). I’ll still check the forecast the day before and update everyone.

## Safety

Come join us on a walk along the Hakarimata Rail Trail in Ngaruawahia!

## Overview

A friendly Saturday morning hike run by volunteers to help us get outside, breathe, and reset.

## Plan

• Meet: Greenlane Countdown at 08:00am, or Hakarimata Rail Trail Carpark (Brownlee Avenue, Ngaruawahia) at 9:45am • Time: 8:00 AM meet at New World New Lynn for a 9:45 AM start from the trailhead • Duration: Around 3–3.5 hours • Route: A beautiful, wide, sheltered riverside trail through native bush. This is the easiest and most accessible section of the Hakarimata network. We walk out along the Rail Trail and then decide where to go depending on the group's wishes. • Finish: Back at the cars by around 1:30 PM and back in Auckland by 3:00pm • Toilets: Public toilets available at the Brownlee Avenue carpark

## What to Bring

• Comfortable walking shoes • Water • A light snack • Warm layers — it’s mid‑winter • Optional: walking poles, hat, rain jacket
