Volunteer Opportunity: Falls Lake Cleanup
Dettagli
Join us for a paddling litter cleanup on Falls Lake and come paddle alongside our Zone Captains from Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, Jennifer Browndorf and Iwona Birk! Volunteers will help protect our waterways by paddling across the lake and into hard-to-reach areas to remove trash. Some paddling experience is recommended.
Registration Required
The cleanup will take place on Wednesday, April 1st from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM (please arrive by 8:45 AM for sign-in). Volunteers should park at the Unnamed Falls Lake Boat Ramp (14500 New Light Rd, Wake Forest, NC) and follow the road to the back of the lot. Restrooms and picnic tables are available on site.
We’ll meet at the Holly Point Campground Boat Ramp to sign in, review the paddling route, and assign boats and supplies. Volunteers will launch from the ramp to begin the cleanup and return by approximately 11:45 AM to unload boats and trash.
We will provide watercrafts, paddles, PFDs, dry bags, and all cleanup supplies for those who do not have their own. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own paddle craft (motorized boats are not allowed). Space is limited for this cleanup, so early registration is encouraged.
Please come prepared with closed-toed shoes, drinking water, sunscreen, a hat, and clothing appropriate for the weather that can get wet or dirty. A towel or change of clothes is also recommended.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Adults only. Each participant is required to sign a liability waiver. In the event of bad weather, the rain date is Tuesday, April 7th, from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM.
Spend the morning on the water, meet fellow conservation-minded paddlers, and help make a lasting impact on Falls Lake!
