This event is going to be hosted by a Japanese and an American. The Japanese person Makoto talks in Japanese, but we don’t have a translator here…
But no worries. We are using the UDtalk app, which became famous for its appearance in a Japanese TV drama, to provide you with captions and real-time translation with AI voice recognition.
You can view both English and Japanese on any browser/device you like. This is a big technical challenge, and we are fairly confident that it works well but let’s see…

NYC, Boston, Chicago, San Diego, Toronto, Montreal, London, Australia, and the list goes on… As a host of “A11yNYC”, Thomas will introduce you to what is happening there. In addition, he will give us the plan to start the A11yTokyo meetup from 2023.

Thomas will introduce how 2022 has been in terms of accessibility, sharing the big news voted by you and the experience he’s had over the last 12 months. The last half will be a Q&A session. Questions from the audience are always welcome :)

# Host
## Thomas Logan
Thomas Logan has spent the past twenty years assisting organizations to create technology solutions that work for people with disabilities. Over his career, Thomas has delivered projects for numerous federal, state and local government agencies as well as private sector organizations from startups to Fortune 500s. He is the owner of Equal Entry, whose mission is: “contributing to a more accessible world.” He is also organizer of Accessibility Virtual Reality and co-organizer of Accessibility New York - monthly Meetups for people interested in topics related to accessibility and people with disabilities. Thomas lives in Tokyo, Japan.
## Makoto Ueki
Makoto Ueki is a web accessibility consultant at Infoaxia Inc. He has been helping enterprises to improve the accessibility of their Websites and mobile apps through audits, user research, training, and remediation. He also took part in drafting and publishing the Japanese Web content standard “JIS X 8341-3” from the first edition in 2004 and became a chairperson in 2016. He was also chairperson of WAIC (Web Accessibility Infrastructure Committee) in Japan. In addition to the Japanese activities, he takes part in the W3C Accessibility Guidelines working group and helps draft WCAG 3.0. He hosts “Web Accessibility School” and is a co-host of “GAAD Japan.”
