STS Talk: How does a groundwater conservation district manage water?
詳細
As Texas continues into drought, clean freshwater is a finite resource. The Barton Springs-Edwards Aquifer Conservation District manages the allocation of our region's groundwater, so there is enough to go around for local landowners, municipalities, farmers, ranchers, and industries.
Come join Save Texas Streams (STS) for an evening with Charlie Flatten, General Manager for BSEACD, as he gives a brief history of the District and explains the ins and Outs of Central Texas groundwater management.
Charlie is a Hill Country native with a background in small business, regional water planning, and groundwater management. His work has always been a close collaboration with groundwater conservation districts, river authorities, regional flood and water planning groups, state-level agencies, and local stakeholders to promote sustainable water management strategies and protect the community’s groundwater resources. He is motivated by clean flowing swimming holes, and believes that sustainable water management must be based on science, education, and a cooperative dialogue between the Hill Country’s diverse communities.
Feel free to arrive anytime between 6:30 and 7 PM to order food and drinks and to socialize. The presentation will begin at 7 PM and run for roughly 1 hour with Q&A to follow. We hope to see you there!
