Coffee Chat in Kobe|For New Expats & Thoughtful Travelers

This is a casual volunteer coffee chat for people who are new to Kobe, new to Japan, or visiting with a deeper curiosity than a normal tourist checklist.

I have lived in Kobe for almost two years after living across New York, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. I am not a tour guide, relocation agent, language teacher, or professional consultant. I am simply willing to have a 1–2 hour conversation and share what I can from my own experience, if it happens to be useful.

We can talk about daily life in Kobe, neighborhoods, language barriers, cultural adjustment, food habits, cafés, local manners, travel impressions, or what it feels like to live between cultures.

This is not a lesson, service, or official advice. It is a mutual exchange. I may be able to help you understand something faster, and I may also learn from your perspective.

Time & booking

The listed time is a starting point, not a strict fixed slot.

If you are interested but this time does not work for you, please RSVP or message me. Another time may be arranged if our schedules match.

Please message me after RSVP with:

  1. whether you prefer Sannomiya or Nagata
  2. your available time
  3. a short note about what you would like to talk about

Place

The chat will take place at a café in either Sannomiya or Nagata, Kobe.
The exact café will be arranged by message after RSVP.
Each person pays for their own drink.

Capacity

This is intended to be a small conversation, usually 1–3 people. If there are too many RSVPs, I may arrange separate times.

This is best for thoughtful travelers, new expats, slow travelers, creatives, founders, remote workers, or anyone who enjoys honest cross-cultural conversation.

It is not for people looking for quick travel hacks, checklist-style sightseeing tips, free professional consulting, or language lessons.

For Japanese participants

For Japanese participants, please note that I am still learning Japanese, so the main conversation will be in English. I can use some basic Japanese when needed, but deeper conversation is more natural for me in English.

If you are Japanese and would like to join, this will be more of a mutual exchange. I may share my experience of living in Kobe as someone from Hong Kong, and I would also be happy to learn from your perspective about Kobe, Japan, culture, and daily life.

これはレッスンや有料サービスではなく、神戸での暮らし・文化・日常について、カフェで気軽に話すための交流です。飲み物代は各自負担です。
